De 15e jaarlijkse European poker Awards zijn toegekend!
De ceremonie vond gister avond plaats in de Blue Gin Bar van het Monte Carlo Bay Hotel, naast de EPT Grand Final.
Joe Stapeleton van PokerStars EPT Live fame hosten het evenement wat in totaal bestond uit 12 prijzen, waaronder speler van het jaar en vrouwelijke spelers van het jaar. Deze werden bepaald door de Global Poker Index rankings, en werden vervolgens uitgereikt aan Fedor Holz en Liv Boeree.
De Poolse Dzmitry Urbanovich werd verassend genoeg uitgeroepen tot de ‘Breakout Player of the Year’, terwijl de stille Adrian Mateos complimenten kreeg voor het winnen van de EPT Grand Final vorig jaar.
De grootste verassing is misschien wel het succes van de ‘ Norwegian Poker Championship’, die twee categories wist te bemachtigen. Het emotioneelste moment was wellicht toen Kanker overlevende John Gale de award won voor ‘ Moment of the Year’
De laatste award was zeker een verassing, de jury gaf namelijk een prijs weg aan iemand in de industrie die een bijzondere en langdurige impact heeft gehad op de poker in Europa en meer.

De jury dit jaar bestond uit Donnie Peters of PokerNews, Erik Rosenberg of Poker.se, Eric Danis of the GPI, Liv Boeree and Anatoly Filatov , Dirk Oetzmann van PokerListings and Alex Dreyfus, CEO van de Global Poker League.
